CONCLUSION

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Firstly, I would like to express thankful words to Dr. Tin Tun, Rector of Yangon University, he is kind to me and so I have admitted to attend to Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science in service. I would also like to thank Dr. Tun Khin, Pro Rector, Yangon University, who signed to accept my individual Project on “Computerize System for Map Maintenance” of Geography Department, Yangon University.

Secondly, Though my parents had already passed away  in my childhood but on behalf of my parents I have a mother, Dr. Mi Mi Kyi, (Retired Professor, Head of Department, Geography Department), Because of her guidance and care  I got opportunities to learn Post Graduates as B.Sc Hons, M.Sc (Biotech) and Diplomas in Global English, Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing and PDCS at Yangon University, all of these are her hospitality, her gratitude, and all these are her grace blessings for my life.

Thirdly, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Daw Nwe Nwe Win, my Professor (Head of Department, Computer studies Department, Yangon University) for her best instruction, guidance, help and kindness to accomplish my education pathway. Also I am most thankful to Sayama Daw Thet Thet Hlaing, my supervisor who gave me her precious time to correct my project on “Computerized system For Map Maintenance” and project paper to be accomplished, and for her guidance, patience and warm encouragement at all times. And then I would always remember all of my instructors who were helpful and careful, and who guided me politely, and they were who gave me their warm encouragement at all time.

Fourthly, my thanks goes to my uncle Rev. C Thauling, Assistant Director of Asia Theological Institute and Ecumenical, Myanmar Christian Churches Council, my elder brother Thomas K. Sabie, Staff officer Survey Department, Yangon and my brother U Saimaw, who is working at Children Hospital, Yangon. They signed on my bold for training.

I finally express my thanks to all of my class mates who communicated me politely.

Abstract

All maps in Geography Dept. are listed in the system. And also the instruments which are using in drawing and surveying are listed in the database. The system was implemented by using Visual Basic 6.0, Surfer 8 and Microsoft Accesses.

CHAPTER -1

Feasibility Report

1.1 Introduction

Nowadays, most of the processes are computerized to get efficiency of office work and engineer for keep abreast with modern technology we are trying to engineer the automatic system.

Department of Geography was keep information and maintain, all the maps are relatives instrument such as Lambert @ topo maps, UTM (Universal Transverse Marketers) maps, Museum Instruments (3D View maps), drawing instruments, survey instruments, Meteorological instruments and Photo instruments are listed in the system and extraction about lists can handle easily.

Our Dept. manually maintains those map and instruments since long before. So that computerization of the map maintenance will get benefits. Some important area population distributed can play the most update in our country, these are preparing by html language in internet explorer file.

1.2 Objective

This system is to find out map information easily and can be searched the position of location in our country as Latitude Degree and Longitude Degree. The system can be transformed into a map according to user studies area scope information. The purpose of this Map Maintenance System is to use in Department of Geography, Yangon University. We are expecting that this Map Maintenance System would be useful in the Department of Survey and Settlement and Land Records Department.

1.3 Existing System

Department of Geography, Yangon University has being stored Lambert maps, drawing tools, other maps, reference model maps visible to 3D. And Department of Survey is planning to substitute UTM maps (Universal Traverse marketers) into Lambert maps, which are taken to store by manual system, and are stored in arrange number of drawer according to arrays of maps sheets number. When we need map it would be searched by maps information according to instruction of index map.

In Geography Department, Yangon University is learning to give the training of Geographic Information System, as computer application drawing system was transferred from manual drawing system. In once a time map was drawn to duplicate by supporting of light box, by supporting of tracing paper, by enlarge or deduce scale systematic. The Ministry of Education Department was installed computers needed to Geography Department, Yangon University for the training supporting of Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing. Although computer application is widely using in map drawing but computer database system is not used until today for maps storing.

In Department of Geography, Yangon University had aerial photos, when aerial photos interpretation in working to use stereoscope and finding to use mirror and lens to read stereo pair.

The instruments of surveying are storing in map store room ,there are chain, prismatic compass, plane table, measuring rods, station rods, arrows, spirits level, plum bops, optical square, tapes, station rods, raining age, stereoscope, tripods, compass alidades, soil test, and etc.

1.4 Proposed System

Lambert map and Universe Traverse Marketers maps data are input in this Map Maintenance System and saved to store in database file. As like as other map data, mapping tools data and survey instruments data are collected to store in this system. The expenditure of map will be accepted to insert in the system database file. And then, the system computes summery of expenditure to report Head of Department, Geography Department of University of Yangon.

Lambert maps, UTM maps, other maps, survey instruments and mapping tools information send to report to Head of Department.

In the same way user profile information and field information will be accepted to insert into this Map Maintenance System. This system can be transformed to map according to field information, map reported send to respective user, and map borrower personal information recorded to save by database file of this system, and start day and repay day. If the days submitted expired information will be responsible report to borrower.

Some more important region and city of population distributed information input in this system, the population statistics are the most update records of our Country. The distributed population were written by notepad document and save to internet explorer document file.

Some Lambert maps, UTM, Remote Sensing soft copies are saved by document file in this system. In internet explorer file in update the location of each map sheet ground position in longitude degree and latitude Degree. So you can display the actually position of item region and distributed population of some important region.

1.5 Scope of  Study

This project can be a roll play to report map information to Head of Department, Geography Department, University of Yangon, and reply to user request map information of Geography Department, Yangon University, drawing and printing the map for user is needed according to the studies area scope of information.
